Château d’Armailhac by Baron Philippe de Rothschild Pauillac Grand Cru Classé AOC

Since 1933, when Baron Philippe finally took full ownership, the history of Château d’Armailhac has been inseparable from that of Château Mouton Rothschild. The Château d’Armailhac vineyard is made up of three groups of parcels, the Plateau des Levantines et de l’Obélisque, the Plateau de Pibran and the Croupe de Béhéré and it covers 70 hectares (172 acres) in the northern part of Pauillac.

The deep gravelly soil rests on a clay-limestone base, giving the Château d’Armailhac wine, a 1855 Classified Growth under the name Mouton d’Armailhacq, its characteristic refinement and elegance. The vineyard is planted with traditional Médoc grape varieties. The average age of the vineyard is 46 years, but nearly 20% of the total surface area dates back to 1890. Château d’Armailhac preserves the old methods of ensuring quality.

Undoubtedly, 2016, judging by the density and texture of the Armailhac 2016, may be compared to the greatest vintages of the 21st century, such as the 2010 and 2005.
