Quinta Do Portal has been producing Port wine in the Pinhão valley for more than 100 years, but it has been in the Douro at least since 1477, when the King D. Afonso V grants a portion of land (Comenda de Oliveira) to the noble D. Afonso de Mansilha. Later in 1756, Frei João de Mansilha played a very important role in the demarcation of the Douro and its implementation.

The Portal 29 Grapes is a field blend from old Port vineyards where you can find a large number of different grape varieties. It’s a reserve Port that results of a selection of the finest ruby lots carefully aged in the cellars between 4 and 5 years.

Quinta do Portal 30 Years Old Aged Tawny Porto

Quinta Do Portal has been producing Port wine in the Pinhão valley for more than 100 years, but it has been in the Douro at least since 1477, when the King D. Afonso V grants a portion of land (Comenda de Oliveira) to the noble D. Afonso de Mansilha. Later in 1756, Frei João de Mansilha played a very important role in the demarcation of the Douro and its implementation.

Being a Portuguese house, Portal is keen on having a full range of Tawny Ports including the rare 30 Year Old. This is a blend of wines that have aged in seasoned barrels in the Douro, where it developed a beautiful golden amber colour with delicate green hues and a wonderful rich complex bouquet.

Later in 1756, Frei João de Mansilha played a very important role in the demarcation of the Douro and its implementation.

The rare Portal 40 Year Old Tawny Port is one of the most special wines of Quinta Do Portal. Decades of barrel ageing were necessary for this wine to acquire a beautiful gold colour with hints of emerald and a very rich, complex and wonderful bouquet. Only a very limited quantity is bottled every year.

Portal Fine Ruby is elegant, lively and with plenty of rich young fruit. Aged for three years in large wooden vats keeping it as fresh and protected from oxidation as possible.

Portal Fine Tawny is very smooth, clean and bright. Aged for 4 years in barrel, it still has lot of fresh fruit on the nose but already with some nutty notes.

Our Fine White Port is typically a blend of Malvasia Fina, Viosinho and Gouveio. Aged for three years in old barrels where it acquires its burnt honey colour, floral aromas of rose petals and white peaches along with some orange zest and almonds.

Quinta Do Portal has been producing Port wine in the Pinhão valley for more than 100 years, but it has been in the Douro at least since 1477, when the King D. Afonso V grants a portion of land (Comenda de Oliveira) to the noble D. Afonso de Mansilha. Later in 1756, Frei João de Mansilha played a very important role in the demarcation of the Douro and its implementation.

Colheita Ports are wines from a single vintage that are aged in wood for several years and can only be bottled after they have attained 7 years of age. Whilst they age, their young, fruity and fresh aromas develop through oxidation to create a bouquet of dried fruit, toasted wood and spices. The wines also acquire an increased smoothness and their bouquet becomes more harmonious and complex.

Quinta do Portal Porto Lagrima White

Quinta Do Portal has been producing Port wine in the Pinhão valley for more than 100 years, but it has been in the Douro at least since 1477, when the King D. Afonso V grants a portion of land (Comenda de Oliveira) to the noble D. Afonso de Mansilha. Later in 1756, Frei João de Mansilha played a very important role in the demarcation of the Douro and its implementation.

Lagrima is a really sweet white Port, enjoyed mostly as a dessert wine, although it retains good acidity that makes it fresh and very pleasant.

Quinta do Portal Touriga Franca

Quinta Do Portal has been producing Port wine in the Pinhão valley for more than 100 years, but it has been in the Douro at least since 1477, when the King D. Afonso V grants a portion of land (Comenda de Oliveira) to the noble D. Afonso de Mansilha. Later in 1756, Frei João de Mansilha played a very important role in the demarcation of the Douro and its implementation.

This is one of the 5 key grape varieties of the Douro, also known as Touriga Francesa (although it’s a 100% Portuguese variety). The Touriga Franca 2009 was aged in French and American barrels for 12 months. It has a deep dark colour with an aroma of berries with some notes of cedar, coffee and cinnamon. In the mouth we find the same fruit and ripe tannins. The final is very complex with some nuances of toasted wood that are well behind the fruit.

Portal Vintage Port 2003 (classic), awarded Champion Fortified Wine of the Year at the International Wine Challenge, is indeed a remarkable and unique wine produced in a exceptional year.
