The fruit for the Hedonist Shiraz is predominately estate grown on our organic/biodynamic certified vineyard situated in the Willunga foothills, McLaren Vale. Fruit is also sourced from the Sellicks Foothills, Blewitt Springs and Kangarilla, all from vastly different soil profiles and aspects across the district. The idyllic St Vincent’s Gulf with it’s cooling sea breeze lies just to the West of the valley.
A very dry winter and spring, coupled with record heat and dry conditions throughout summer led to an early and condensed vintage. The conditions lent themselves to smaller berries with good concentration of flavour.
“I made it black and silky in new American oak and it’s got that long velvety finish true Shiraz lovers lust after.”– Walter Clappis, Winemaker
This wine is made using certified biodynamic and organic vineyards and winemaking practices.
With his pioneering spirit, Michel Chapoutier set off to discover the terroirs of the oldest continent, with an idea: growing Rhone grapes in Australia. This was the beginnings of a tremendous voyage of discovery, observation and eventually, affection for that land. On what he found to be very special terroir, he planted non-grafted vines from 19th century clonal selections, imported from Europe before phylloxera took its toll. The non-negligible advantage was that in Australia, the harvest coincides with the French spring: ideal timing.

Yabby Lake Vineyard was established in 1998 in the sub-region of Moorooduc, situated in the north of the Mornington Peninsula. The winemaking philosophy at Yabby Lake is expression over impression, crafting wines that reflect the spirit of the season and vineyard.
This is the 8th release of Single Block wines, since the inaugural 2008 vintage. Single Block Releases are only made in the most exceptional years, when a parcel stands out for its individual personality, a small amount of that parcel is bottled separately under the Single Block label. This chardonnay shows great purity, beautiful natural acidity, line and length.
