Château de Castelnau Picpoul de Pinet

At the gates of the village of Castelnau de Guers, a few kilometers from Pezenas and the Mediterranean Sea, the Domaine de Castelnau has very ancient origins. Possession of the Lords of Guers from the 13th century. A precious heritage lovingly maintained by Beatrice and Christophe Muret, owners of the premises since 1997, thus perpetuating the vocation vigneronne of their ancestors.

One of the oldest Languedoc grapes, the Piquepoul has been growing near the Thau Lagoon for centuries. White is the most common, though both blush and black grapes are to be found. As early as 1618, the botanist J.B. Maniol cited Piquepoul as one of the best known Languedoc grapes in his work “Sylve plantarium”.

Domaine de la Clapière Gatefer

Nestled on the heights of the village of Montagnac, a few kilometers from the historic town of Pézénas, the Domaine de la Clapière is ideally located in the Languedoc region, thanks to its Mediterranean coast, its wild and authentic landscapes and its exceptionally mild climate.
The history of the estate dates back to the Gallo-Roman era, located as it was on the Via Domitia, the Roman road linking Italy to Spain, where there is already a vineyard.
A few centuries later, the place will become a famous and welcoming relay for the pilgrims of the Routes of Compostela. And that is ultimately at the XVII th century that the Domain Clapière find his name under the influence of Francis Clapier, wealthy merchant and owner of the time. Since 2006, the estate is operated and inhabited by Sophie and Xavier who make this heritage live with the help of a great team. And if a new page made of enthusiasm and modernity is written for the field, history is never far.

Rich and concentrated, the name of the cuvée Gatefer is that of a parcel of the property. It has been added to the Domaine de La Clapière from the 2006 vintage.

Certified TERRA VITIS.

In this Côtes-du-Roussillon white blend part of the grapes comes from limestone, clay soils and gneiss in the Agly Valley; the other part from granite soils at higher altitude (500m, later ripening sites).
