I Giusti & Zanza Belcore Toscana Rosso IGT

L’Elisir D’Amore is an Italian 19th century opera buffa by Gaetano Donizetti. Rocca delle Macìe Roccato Toscana IGT

1988 saw the unveiling of the first bottle of Roccato.
This wine, conceived and willed into being by Italo and Sergio and based on equal parts of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, represents the essence of the path undertaken by the winery itself. Indeed, like Rocca delle Macìe, which started out from the tradition of Chianti Classico and has since opened up to innovation without ever forgetting its origins, Roccato represents the encounter of the most typical roots of Sangiovese with the modernity symbolized by Cabernet and by the barriques used for the aging process. A mouth-filling, velvety wine that is rich in aromas of blackberry, plum and licorice, Roccato has a good mineral component and a tannic structure that is capable of supporting long-term aging.

Rocca delle Macìe Ser Gioveto Toscana IGT

Ser Gioveto was conceived in 1985 by Italo as a tribute to his son Sergio, who began working alongside him at the helm of the winery in that year. That said, the given name of this wine is also a reference to the archaic name of Sangiovese – ‘Sangioveto’ – which was the main grape chosen to make the new wine. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are blended with the noble native vine to create a wine of great structure and character, produced from a selection of the winery’s finest grapes. Aging in French oak barriques for 9-14 months enriches the wine’s aromatic complexity with an enhanced sense of balance and elegance. Ser Gioveto releases a warm, attractive aroma of black cherry, plum and blackcurrant syrup, followed by balsamic notes with a spicy finish of leather and sweet tobacco, and can hold its own with full-flavored dishes thanks to its assertive tannic note.
